Lamtluang Online News: The Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division, Lawngtlai in Mizoram has fined a wildlife trapper Rs.20,000 for poaching wild boar.
In Mampui village, Lawngtlai District, the Forest Department discovered that a farmer had trapped wild boar near his cultivation hut. Consequently, an operation was launched, and wild boar were seized from the trapper.
Twenty-six pieces of smoked wild boar, three wild boar legs, and a wild boar head were seized from the trapper.
The Deputy Conservator of Forest, Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division, Lawngtlai, has imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 on the trapper under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
The seized wild boar products are being kept at the office of the Deputy Conservator of Forest, Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division, Lawngtlai.
The officials have appealed to the public to cooperate in wildlife conservation efforts.
They have also expressed gratitude to those who provided information leading to the trapper's arrest.
