Lamtluang Online News: On 7 December 2024, the Chief Secretary of Mizoram, Pu Khilli Ram Meena, visited two relief camps in Champhai District, namely Champhai Zote ITI Camp and Bethel Camp in Zokhawthar.
The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Champhai Deputy Commissioner Pu VL Remliana, Additional SP Pu PC Lalṭanpuia, and other government officials, as well as Sub-Hqrs YMA leaders.
During his visit, the Chief Secretary met with government officials and NGO leaders to discuss the relief efforts and challenges faced by the refugees.
He also interacted with the leaders of the refugees and inquired about their difficulties and living conditions.
As of now, there are 317 refugees at the Champhai Zote ITI Camp, comprising 169 men, 62 women, and 86 children.
Meanwhile, the Bethel Camp in Zokhawthar has 399 refugees, including 110 men, 177 women, and 112 children.
The Chief Secretary also chaired a meeting with government officials in Champhai District to discuss border-related issues, solid waste management, and agriculture department initiatives.
The meeting was held on 4:00 pm, aimed to address pressing issues in the district and explore ways to improve the living conditions of the refugees.
