Lamtluang Online News: The Mizoram Government has decided that medical doctors working under it, who run clinics, work in private hospitals, etc., will not be eligible to receive Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA).
The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DP&AR) issued the Mizoram Health Service (Amendment) Rules, 2024 on 18 December 2024, which will come into effect from January 2025.
When implemented, doctors working under the Mizoram Government, including those working in private hospitals, running clinics, providing telemedicine services for personal gain, owning pharmacies, and diagnostic laboratories, will not be eligible to receive NPA.
As per the existing rules, medical doctors receive 20% of their basic pay as NPA. Additionally, the total amount of basic pay and NPA is used to calculate other allowances like DA and HRA, resulting in higher overall pay.
Starting January 2025, doctors who wish to receive NPA will not be allowed to run clinics, work in private hospitals, own diagnostic laboratories, or pharmacies.
