Lamtluang Online News: On 10 December 2024, Myanmar military personnel from the 274 Battalion allegedly set fire to homes in Mindat, Chin State, using petrol bombs.
The incident occurred at around 6 pm in the evening, and local residents reported seeing flames and smoke emanating from the affected area.
According to a local resident, "The fire started around 6 pm, and we could see the flames and smoke from a distance. The fire has since been extinguished, and the affected homes have been completely destroyed."
The exact extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet known.
This incident is not an isolated one, as the 274 Battalion has been responsible for burning down over 70 homes in Mindat since October.
Additionally, the military has also been accused of using heavy artillery and petrol bombs to attack homes in A Nauh Veng, SanPiah Veng, and A Sih Pin Veng, all located in the Mindat area.
The motives behind these attacks are not yet clear, but they have resulted in significant destruction and displacement of local residents.
