Lamtluang Online News, 9 December 2024: Aizawl police have seized firecrackers and sparklers worth ₹13,02,658 in recent days. The seizures were made by various police stations in Aizawl, including Aizawl P/S and Vaivakawn P/S.
According to police sources, the seized items include firecrackers and sparklers worth ₹11,82,658 at Aizawl P/S and ₹1,20,000 at Vaivakawn P/S. Five people have been arrested in connection with the seizures and cases have been registered against them.
In preparation for the upcoming festive season, the police are also planning to set up "no vehicle zones" in certain areas of Aizawl on December 23, 24, and 31. The proposal is currently awaiting approval from the Chief Secretary.
To ensure public safety during the festive season, the police have set up two help desks, one at Aizawl New Market area and the other at Israel Point. Additionally, 16 teams have been deployed for duty in various areas of the city, along with quick response teams and mobile patrolling units.
Aizawl Superintendent of Police Rex Zarzoliana Vanchhawng stated that the police are fully prepared to ensure public safety during the festive season. He added that armed battalions have also been deployed to assist with security arrangements.
The police have also divided Aizawl city into three zones for effective policing during the festive season. Quick response teams have been stationed at various police stations, and mobile patrolling units have been deployed to ensure public safety.
