Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, Mizoram - December 3, 2024: The Mizoram Art Development Society (MADS) has organized its annual art exhibition, featuring 97 art pieces, including paintings and sculptures, that have never been showcased before in any other exhibition. The exhibition, which was inaugurated on Tuesday, will be held at the Lianchhiari Rûn, Treasury Square, and will continue until Saturday.
According to the organizers, all the art pieces on display are new and have never been showcased before in any other exhibition. The general secretary of MADS, Lalrammawia, said that the artists and craftsmen who have showcased their work at the exhibition are open to taking orders for custom-made pieces.
Amawii, a renowned Mizo artist and owner of Amawii Art Novelty, said that Mizo artists have not received the recognition they deserve in Mizoram. He added that many artists struggle to make a living from their craft. Amawii appealed to the wealthy and influential people in the community to support local artists, saying that even sponsoring one artist would be a great help.
MADS was established on November 6, 2012, and currently has 106 members. The organization holds an annual art exhibition, which was first started in 2014. This year's exhibition was inaugurated by C. Lalnunkima, Director of IPR, and featured a painting competition organized by MADS and the IPR department. The winners of the competition were awarded certificates, cash prizes, and trophies.
The art pieces on display at the exhibition are priced between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 250,000, with the most expensive piece being priced at Rs. 250,000.
