Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, December 11, 2024: In a significant development, Rasik Mohan Chakma, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), has been removed from his position after a no-confidence motion was passed against him.
The no-confidence motion, which was tabled by Opposition MDC Doymoy Daveng Chakma, was supported by 9 members, while 8 members opposed it, during the CADC Winter Session held on December 11, 2024.
Interestingly, 5 MNF MDCs also voted in favour of the no-confidence motion, and subsequently, they resigned from the MNF party, casting a shadow over the continuation of the MNF-led government in the CADC.
Rasik Mohan Chakma, who was elected as an MLA from Tuichawng constituency on an MNF ticket, had been holding the dual positions of MLA and CEM for some time.
The development has significant implications for the political landscape of the CADC, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
