Lamtluang Online News, November 20, 2024: A widow's house in Seling, India, was partially dismantled yesterday to make way for the National Highway expansion, sparking outrage among local residents.
It is reported that the partial demolition, carried out without prior consultation, has left the widow's residence structurally compromised.
Led by the Seling Joint NGO, the community staged a protest march today, condemning the authorities actions and demanding fair compensation.
The protesters passed a resolution calling for:
- Immediate halt to further demolitions
- Fair compensation for partial loss of property
- Alternative housing for affected residents
- Protection from harassment by officials
- Suspension of the magistrate party involved
"We demand justice and fair compensation for the widow," said a protester. "The authorities showed no regard for human dignity or the widow's well-being."
