Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, 26th November 2024: A Handover Ceremony for the Apheresis Machine was held at the office chamber of Dr. S.T. Lalruatfela, Sr. Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital, Aizawl, at 10:30 am today.
The Apheresis Machine was handed over to the Civil Hospital, Aizawl, by Ashraya Hastha Trust, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Health Minister Pi Rinpuii stated that the Apheresis Machine will enable the extraction of only the required blood components, and the remaining blood will be returned to the donor.
She added that this machine will also reduce the risk of contracting diseases through blood transfusions, as patients will no longer need to receive blood from multiple donors.
Pu NK Sharma, Director, Ashraya Hasta Trust, said that the trust is a non-profit organization that provides healthcare services to the elderly, poor, and needy in 26 states across India.
He also mentioned that the Apheresis Machine is valued at approximately ₹60 lakhs.
The Apheresis Machine can extract platelets (white blood cells) from a single donor, making it a valuable asset for the hospital.
