Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, Mizoram - 25th November 2024: The Village Council term in Mizoram has been cut short due to financial constraints, according to LAD Minister C Lalsawivunga. The Minister explained that the state's revenue is decreasing as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission.
In 2023, the state received ₹122.83 crore, and in 2024-2025, it will receive ₹89.91 crore per month. However, the Minister stated that the state will receive a reduced amount of ₹48.83 crore per month in 2025-2026.
The COVID-19 pandemic had disrupted the VC term, but now that the pandemic has subsided, the government has made plans to conduct the VC elections. The Minister emphasized the need for careful financial management, given the decreasing revenue and increasing costs.
The government is planning to conduct elections in a way that minimizes the burden on the people. The Minister expressed his commitment to working tirelessly to achieve the goal of establishing a government that is pleasing to God.
