TRAGEDY STRIKES: MIZORAM MAN SUCCUMBS TO HORNET STINGS

Lamtluang Online News, 9 November 2024: Vanlalmalsawmzuala, 30, son of R Lalkhawzauva, of East Lungdar tragically lost his life today (9 November 2024) due to severe hornet stings sustained while collecting a hornet nest in the jungle.

According to eyewitnesses, Malsawmzuala and friends attempted to torch the nest when he was attacked by a swarm of hornets, resulting in critical injuries. Initially treated at East Lungdar Primary Health Center, his condition temporarily stabilized. However, upon experiencing further complications, he was rushed to Aizawl for advanced medical attention.

Sadly, Malsawmzuala succumbed to his injuries merely 10 kilometers from his village, en route to Aizawl.

In Mizoram, hornet larvae are considered a delicacy, with many venturing into the jungle to collect nests. This practice involves setting fire to the nest, followed by the collection and sale of the larvae.
