MIZORAM GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES TEMPORARY BUS SERVICES AMIDST FUEL PRICE HIKE STRIKE

In a bid to mitigate the impact of the ongoing strike against fuel price hikes, the Mizoram Government has launched temporary bus services in Aizawl city, for October 23, 2024 (Wednesday).

The special bus services, aimed at facilitating public transportation, will operate on two routes: Ngaizel to Zemabawk and Zemabawk to Ngaizel. The buses will run from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, departing every 20 minutes to ensure convenient travel for commuters.

According to an official notice issued by the Director of Transport Department, the temporary bus services are intended to minimize disruptions caused by the strike and provide relief to the public.

The strike, called by commercial vehicle owners, demands a reduction in fuel prices, which have increased significantly since September 1. Petrol prices have risen from Rs 93.93 to Rs 99.24 per liter, while diesel prices have increased from Rs 82.62 to Rs 88.02 per liter.
