Eyewitness Account:
Our journey with the Minister was disrupted by unexpected challenges when the Assam Rifles stopped our convoy. At Kawlbem, a temporary check post halted us, and a jawan asked the Minister for his name despite clear identification. The Minister clarified and displayed the India flag, but the jawan requested his name and signature again, sparking frustration and a quarrel.
After demanding an apology for their misconduct, Assam Rifles personnel apologized during dinner in a village, but their sincerity was questionable. Upon returning to Aizawl on 17th October 2024, they attempted to stop us again at Ngopa, but we proceeded without engaging.
Mizoram Police facilitated our passage at Seling despite Assam Rifles' attempts to stop us. However, we were stopped again at Tuirial river, near Bung Bangla village, where barricades and tyre spikes blocked our path.
Assam Rifles claimed they needed to verify the Minister's vehicle due to a report about Manipur vehicles, but their actions seemed targeted, sparking another heated exchange. We documented the incident with photos and videos.
Social media comments suggesting a routine stop were laughable given Assam Rifles' assertiveness. The Kawlbem incident delayed our trip, appearing to be a deliberate attempt to humiliate the Minister."
