WBC YOUTH CHAMPION LALDINSANGA RECEIVES HERO'S WELCOME IN LUNGLEI

Lamtluang Online News, Lunglei, December 11, 2024: World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Champion Laldinsanga was given a hero's welcome by the people of Lunglei on December 11, 2024. The welcome ceremony was organized by the Lunglei High Powered Committee (HPC) and the Ramthar Veng village council.

The ceremony was attended by Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman Pu V. Malsawmtluanga MLA, Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) Chairman Pu Lalzuithanga, Lunglei District Deputy Commissioner Pi Navneet Mann, and other dignitaries.

In his speech, HPC Vice Chairman Pu V. Malsawmtluanga praised Laldinsanga for bringing pride to Lunglei and the Mizo community. He also appreciated the support of Laldinsanga's family and friends.

LMC Chairman Pu Lalzuithanga congratulated Laldinsanga on his achievement and announced that the LMC would organize a separate function to honor him.

In an interview, Laldinsanga shared his experiences and struggles as a boxer. He expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, and well-wishers for their support.

The welcome ceremony was also attended by representatives from various organizations, including the Young Mizo Association (YMA), the Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP), and the Mizo Union of Pawl (MUP).

Lunglei District Deputy Commissioner Pi Navneet Mann presented a citation and a gift to Laldinsanga on behalf of the district administration. The ceremony concluded with a speech by Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM) General Secretary Rev. Dr R. Lalbiakliana.

MIZORAM TO INTRODUCE PREPAID METERS FOR ELECTRICITY CONSUMERS

Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, December 11, 2024: Mizoram's Power and Electricity Minister, Pu F. Rodingliana, has announced that prepaid meters will be introduced throughout the state to enable consumers to pay for their electricity usage in advance.

The minister stated that the prepaid metering system will allow consumers to top up their accounts with a minimum amount of ₹100. He added that the system will bring transparency to the payment process, enabling consumers to pay the correct amount for their electricity usage.

Pu F. Rodingliana said that the government has planned to install 2,89,000 smart meters for consumers, 2,300 DT meters, and 398 feeder meters. He added that a total of 2,92,081 meters will be installed throughout Mizoram, enabling the government to monitor electricity usage accurately.

The minister stated that the smart metering system will eliminate the need for manual meter reading, reducing the likelihood of errors and manipulation. He added that the government will follow the guidelines set by the central government regarding smart meter tariffs.

Pu F. Rodingliana also announced plans to replace old cables with new ones throughout Aizawl city under the RDSS scheme and the Smart City project. He expressed hope that this will help reduce power outages in the city.



TRAGIC HUNTING ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF LALTHAZAMA IN NAUSEL, MIZORAM

Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, December 11, 2024: A tragic hunting accident has claimed the life of Lalthazama (37), a resident of Muthi village, who was shot and killed by a fellow hunting partner in Nausel, Mizoram, on December 10, 2024.

Lalthazama had gone to the Kawrbel forest in Nausel village, accompanied by three friends, to hunt at around 3 pm on December 10, 2024. However, at around 9:30 pm, one of his fellow hunting partners mistook him for an animal and shot him, resulting in his instant death.

The victim's body was brought back to Nausel at 7 am on December 11, 2024, and arrived at 11:40 am. The Sihphir Venghlun Village leaders and Branch YMA members also paid their respects to the deceased.

The villagers of Nausel prepared food for the mourners, and the body was sent to his village at 12:25 pm.

Lalthazama is survived by his wife and three children.



CADAC CHIEF EXECUTIVE MEMBER RASIK MOHAN CHAKMA OUSTED THROUGH NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION

Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, December 11, 2024: In a significant development, Rasik Mohan Chakma, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), has been removed from his position after a no-confidence motion was passed against him.

The no-confidence motion, which was tabled by Opposition MDC Doymoy Daveng Chakma, was supported by 9 members, while 8 members opposed it, during the CADC Winter Session held on December 11, 2024.

Interestingly, 5 MNF MDCs also voted in favour of the no-confidence motion, and subsequently, they resigned from the MNF party, casting a shadow over the continuation of the MNF-led government in the CADC.

Rasik Mohan Chakma, who was elected as an MLA from Tuichawng constituency on an MNF ticket, had been holding the dual positions of MLA and CEM for some time.

The development has significant implications for the political landscape of the CADC, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
