MILITARY COUNCIL BLOCKS GOODS TRANSPORTATION IN SOUTHERN CHIN STATE

Lamtluang Online News: The Military Council has blocked the transportation of goods in southern Chin State, causing a shortage of essential commodities. As of 20th December 2024, locals reported that the council's soldiers have restricted the movement of goods.

The blockade has been in place since the second week of November, following the Mindat incident. The restrictions have led to a severe shortage of goods in the region, with prices skyrocketing as a result.

A resident of Kanpalet village stated, "Even before, the roads were bad, but now they've blocked the transportation of goods, making prices even higher."

Goods used to be transported from Gangaw, Saw, and Chauh townships in southern Chin State, but now the Military Council's soldiers have blocked them. Locals are only allowed to buy goods for personal consumption, and are prohibited from purchasing goods for resale.

A resident of YiYwa village reported, "They don't allow us to buy goods, only what we need for ourselves. They don't allow us to buy goods to sell, and the Military Council checks everything at the gate."

The restrictions have severely impacted the local economy, with many residents relying on the transportation of goods for their livelihood.
