NATIONAL HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: MIZORAM WOMEN TEAM REACH SEMI-FINALS

Lamtluang Online News: Mizoram have advanced to the semi-finals of the 14th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2024, after defeating Uttar Pradesh 1-0 in the quarter-finals. The match was held at Secunderabad, Telangana, on Tuesday. Captain Laltlanchhungi scored the winning goal in the 49th minute of the fourth quarter through a penalty stroke. This is her seventh goal in the tournament, and she has been instrumental in leading her team to the semi-finals.

Mizoram had topped Pool E in the group stage, defeating Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Kerala, and conceding only one goal throughout the group stage. Mizoram will face Madhya Pradesh in the semi-finals on Thursday. Madhya Pradesh had defeated Haryana 3-2 in the quarter-finals.

The other semi-final match will be between Jharkhand and Odisha. The 14th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2024 began on 26 November and will conclude on Saturday.

97 ART PIECES ON DISPLAY AT MIZORAM ART DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY'S ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION

Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, Mizoram - December 3, 2024: The Mizoram Art Development Society (MADS) has organized its annual art exhibition, featuring 97 art pieces, including paintings and sculptures, that have never been showcased before in any other exhibition. The exhibition, which was inaugurated on Tuesday, will be held at the Lianchhiari Rûn, Treasury Square, and will continue until Saturday.

According to the organizers, all the art pieces on display are new and have never been showcased before in any other exhibition. The general secretary of MADS, Lalrammawia, said that the artists and craftsmen who have showcased their work at the exhibition are open to taking orders for custom-made pieces.

Amawii, a renowned Mizo artist and owner of Amawii Art Novelty, said that Mizo artists have not received the recognition they deserve in Mizoram. He added that many artists struggle to make a living from their craft. Amawii appealed to the wealthy and influential people in the community to support local artists, saying that even sponsoring one artist would be a great help.

MADS was established on November 6, 2012, and currently has 106 members. The organization holds an annual art exhibition, which was first started in 2014. This year's exhibition was inaugurated by C. Lalnunkima, Director of IPR, and featured a painting competition organized by MADS and the IPR department. The winners of the competition were awarded certificates, cash prizes, and trophies.

The art pieces on display at the exhibition are priced between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 250,000, with the most expensive piece being priced at Rs. 250,000.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS IN AIZAWL FROM DECEMBER 6, 2024

Lamtluang Online News, December 3, 2024: In order to prevent traffic congestion in the Sikulpuikawn and Khatla areas, especially during peak hours, Sr. Superintendent of Police Traffic, Aizawl, Stephen Lalrinawma has issued the following order.

From December 6, 2024 (Saturday), between 9:00 am and 10:00 am, no vehicles except Aizawl City Buses will be allowed to ply from Sikulpuikawn to Tennis Court via Khatla and Peter Street.

This restriction will not apply on government holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It will also not apply to emergency services and law and order duty vehicles.

MIZORAM PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH HOLDS 101st SYNOD ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2024

Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, Mizoram - December 3, 2024: The Mizoram Presbyterian Church, the largest church in Mizoram, has begun its largest gathering, the 101st Synod Annual Conference 2024, starting from Monday. The Synod Annual Conference is the highest decision-making conference of the church, where delegates from across the state gather to discuss and decide on important matters. This year, there are 35 agendas to be discussed, along with reports from various committees.

The conference is being held at the Mission Vengthlang Pastorate, Mission Vengthlang Church, and will continue until Sunday evening. From Wednesday morning to Saturday, the Synod Executive Committee (SEC) and various boards will discuss and deliberate on the 35 agendas, as well as reports from committees.

On the first day, the Nomination Committee met, followed by a worship service and report presentation on the church's progress. On Tuesday, evening worship services were held, and Rev. C. Saikapa from Khatla delivered a sermon on the theme "Preparing the Way for the Lord" (Isaiah 40:3-5).

On Sunday, pastors will be ordained in the morning, and the Holy Communion will be administered in the afternoon. The moderator's valedictory sermon will be delivered in the evening.

The Synod Annual Conference was previously hosted by individual churches, but since 2010, it has been hosted by the pastorate.
