COUNCIL OF CHURCHES IN MIZORAM (CCM) INAUGURATED

Council of Churches in Mizoram inauguration service held at Mission veng Presbyterian Church 

Lamtluang Online News, 27 October 2024: The Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM) was officially inaugurated on October 27, 2024, at Mission Veng Presbyterian Church in Aizawl.

Rev. R Vanlalnghaka, Moderator of Mizoram Synod, led the inauguration ceremony, while Rev. Dr. R Lalbiakhluna, General Secretary of Baptist Church of Mizoram and Secretary of the Joint Committee of CCM, chaired the program.

The new leaders were installed by Rev. Dr. H Remthanga, Member of the Joint Committee of CCM.

Mr. Lalruatkima, Recording Secretary of the Joint Committee of CCM, presented a report on the formation of the CCM.

Distinguished guests, including Lalduhoma, Chief Minister of Mizoram, and Rev. Dr. Ramengliana Sailo, General Secretary of North East India Christian Council (NEICC), addressed the gathering.

Twenty-six MLAs, Lalhmachhuana, President of Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), and Mizo Theological Association were also in attendance.

The conference drew 521 delegates from eight denominations across Mizoram.

The CCM comprises Mizoram Presbyterian Church, Baptist Church of Mizoram, Evangelical Church of Maraland, Evangelical Free Church of India, Lairam Isua Krista Baptist Kohhran, Isua Krista Kohhran, Independent Church of India, and Wesleyan Methodist Church of Mizoram.

Churches with at least 3000 members are eligible to join the CCM.

MIZORAM UPC HOLDS 28TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Lamtluang Online News, Mizoram, 27 October 2024 : The United Pentecostal Church of Mizoram's Ladies Auxiliary Department (LAD) is currently hosting its 28th conference in Ruantlang, commencing on Friday evening and concluding tonight. The event has drawn a significant number of delegates to the Rephidim Pandal.



TLAWNG BRIDGE OFFICIALLY OPENED ON OCTOBER 25, 2024

Lamtluang Online News, Mizoram: Er. Lalrinkima Hnamte, PWD Engineer-in-Chief, Mizoram has officially opened the Tlawng Lei bridge on Reiek Road for public use on 25 October 2024. This significant infrastructure project boasts impressive features, including a length of 55 meters and a width of 12.2 meters, with a 7.5-meter-wide carriageway and 1.2-meter-wide pedestrian paths on both sides. The bridge's railing stands at an impressive 7 meters high.

Project Details:
- Sanctioned Amount: Rs. 757.56 lakhs
- Construction Start Date: February 28, 2017
- Design Change: From Pre-Stressed Concrete Bridge to Double Lane Built-Up Steel Girder Bridge

Construction began on February 28, 2017, but faced setbacks due to heavy rainfall in June 2017, causing the Tlawng River to swell 5.05 meters above the High Flood Level. This necessitated a design change to ensure the bridge's stability and safety.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Er. Lalrinkima, Er. H. Zoramliana, Chief Engineer (Highways), Er. R. Lalpeka, Senior Executive Engineer, and members of Reiek and Ailawng Village Councils. Er. Lalrinngheta, Superintending Engineer, Central Circle, delivered the closing remarks.

Electrification work, targeting 70 tons, has been awarded to M/S Satguru Engineers & Allied Services Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati, with vehicle movement restricted during this period to ensure safety.

DC KOLASIB CHAIRS CRUCIAL MEETING ON BAIRABI-SAIRANG RAILWAY PROJECT PROGRESS

Lalhmangaiha, Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib, led a significant meeting at the DC Conference Hall to discuss the progress of the Bairabi-Sairang railway project. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including district officials, Indian Railway authorities, and Virtual Committee members.

Key Discussion Points:

 - Fast-Tracking Unresolved Private Land Acquisitions: Resolving pending land acquisition issues to pave the way for the project's progress.
- Addressing Village Complaints:  Resolving grievances from Hortoki, Mualkhang, and Khanmrang villages.
- Resolving Public Issues: Addressing problems caused by contractor works.
- Outstanding Compensation : Settling pending compensation for landowners and electric pole installations.
- Joint Verification: Collaborative verification by district authorities, railway staff, and village councils.

Railway officials aim to extend the line to Mualkhang by March 25, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the project's timeline. Additionally, repairs to landslide-damaged tracks in Assam have been completed, enabling goods trains to operate, with passenger trains expected to resume soon.
