HRANGBANA COLLEGE HOSTS NATIONAL SEMINAR ON JAMES DOKHUMA'S FICTION

A two-day national seminar on "Exploring the Fictions of James Dokhuma: A Critical Perspective" began at  Government Hrangbana College Conference Hall today (24 October 2024). Organized by the college's Mizo Department and Mizo Language Development Board, the seminar aims to delve into Dokhuma's literary contributions.

Inaugurating the seminar, Principal Lalthlengliana Hrahsel welcomed participants. R. Lallianzuala, Chairman of Mizo Language Development Board, praised Dokhuma's storytelling skills, his portrayal of Mizo culture, and his achievements despite limited formal education.

Scholars and researchers presented papers on various aspects of Dokhuma's works. The seminar will continue tomorrow, covering eight topics. Selected papers will be compiled into a book.

MAMIT OBSERVES MUGA SILKWORM HARVESTING CEREMONY

24 October 2024: Yesterday, the District Sericulture Office, Mamit organized a harvesting ceremony for Muga Silkworm at Govt. Muga Seed Farm, Hmar Veng, Mamit. Additional Deputy Commissioner Pi Carolyn LB Khiangte and other officials attended the event.

During the ceremony, District Sericulture Officer Pu Lalbiakhlua Ralte, Sericulture Extension Officer Pu Lalramchuana, and technical staff shared insights on Muga silkworm cultivation and harvesting techniques. They also explained the distribution of seeds to farmers and preparations for the harvesting season.

Pu Lalbiakhlua Ralte emphasized plans to improve future harvesting ceremonies.

The event also featured an exhibition on Eri (hmutih/mutih) silkworm cultivation.

MIZORAM MINISTER B LALCHHANZOVA STUDIES KARNATAKA REVENUE DEPARTMENT

Mizoram's Land Revenue and Settlement Minister, Pu B.LalchhanzovĆ”, arrived in Bengaluru day before yesterday to study the Karnataka government's Revenue Department's operations.

On October 23, Pu B LalchhanzovĆ” met Karnataka Revenue Minister Pu Krishna Byre Gowda at Vikasa Soudha and discussed enhancing collaboration between the two states. He requested assistance for Mizos living in Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru.

Pu B LalchhanzovĆ” praised Karnataka's efficient land revenue administration and innovative use of technology, making it a model for Indian states.

During his visit from October 23-26, Pu B LalchhanzovĆ”, accompanied by officials, will observe Karnataka's revenue department practices and conduct field visits.

The Minister emphasized the need to improve Mizoram's land revenue setup and expressed optimism that the delegation would learn valuable lessons from Karnataka.

Pu Vanlalmawia, Secretary, Land Revenue & Settlement, and other officials are accompanying the Minister.
