ASSAM RIFLES DG MET MIZORAM CM LALDUHOMA

Lamtluang Online News: Assam Rifles' Director General, Lt Gen Vikas Lalkhera, met Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma at Mizoram House in New Delhi on October 21, 2024. In their official X (social media) handle, Assam Rifles posted that they discussed the security situation and stated, "Assam Rifles remains committed to the security and welfare of the people of Mizoram."

The irony lies in that the 2nd Battalion Assam Rifles, posted in Mizoram, brutally halted the Power and Electricity Minister's convoy on October 17, 2024, just a few miles away from Aizawl city. This sparked a heated narrative between the Power Minister and Assam Rifles, with both sides attempting to justify their stance on who was right and wrong.

It can be surmised that the recent meeting between the AR DG and Mizoram CM in Delhi indicates Assam Rifles has acknowledged their mistake. If they continue to claim commitment to security and welfare, they must train their personnel to respect and follow protocols for elected representatives chosen by the people of Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the Power and Electricity Department, in their press release today (October 22, 2024), demanded clarification and an apology for their minister, who was wrongly framed and illegally stopped by the 2nd Battalion Assam Rifles in Mizoram.
