MIZO BOOK OF THE YEAR 2023 WINNER AHMANGAIIHI RELEASES NEW NOVEL 'SUZANNE'

Lamtluang Online News, Decembe 05, 2024: The new novel, 'Suzanne', by Ahmangaihi Khiangte, winner of the Mizo Academy of Letters (MAL) Book of the Year 2023, was officially released on Wednesday (4 December 2024) afternoon. The book was launched by Dr. Laltluangliana Khiangte, Sr. Professor & Dean, School of Humanities & Languages, Mizoram University, at the Synod Conference Hall in Aizawl.

Ahmangaihi's second book is a significant milestone, as it is the first book to be released after winning the prestigious MAL Book of the Year award. 'Suzanne' is a novel that tells a love story, comprising 30 chapters and 511 pages, priced at Rs. 450.

In his foreword to the book, renowned Mizo novelist Lalrammawia Ngente described 'Suzanne' as "a captivating novel that transports readers to a new world". He further wrote, "The novel explores the complexities of love, the pain of separation, and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity."

Ahmangaihi made history by becoming the first female winner of the MAL Book of the Year award in 2023, among 35 recipients.

MIZORAM PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH HOLDS 2024 SYNOD ASSEMBLY

Lamtluang Online News, 5 December 2024: The Mizoram Presbyterian Church's largest gathering, the Synod Assembly 2024, commenced on Tuesday and was officially inaugurated on Wednesday (4 December 2024). A total of 1,757 delegates attended the assembly.

The morning session of the assembly began at 9:30 am with a welcome speech, followed by a report on the church's activities. The moderator, Rev. R. Vanlalnghaka, handed over the responsibility to Rev. R.C. Lalnghakliana, and the assembly continued.

The assembly approved the nomination for the 2025 Synod Assembly programme and the appointment of office bearers. The venue for the 2025, 2026, and 2027 Synod Assemblies was also approved, and the 2028 Synod Assembly will be hosted by the Republic Veng Pastorate at the College Veng Church.

The theme for the 2025 Pastoral Ministry was approved as 'Inpumkhatna' (Unity) based on John 17:11 (b), and the appointment of 14 pro-pastors was also approved. The assembly also approved the establishment of five new pastorates, including Saikhawthlir Bial in Mizoram, and Ludhiana, Amrapara, Tarahara, and Bangnan Bial outside Mizoram.

A new presbytery, Bairabi Presbytery, was also established, comprising Hmarthlang, Kolasib, and Teirei Presbyteries. The assembly also approved the plan proposed by the Pastoral Ministry for the deployment of ministers, pastors, and pro-pastors.

Out of the 35 general agendas, four were passed on the first day. A proposal from Teirei Presbytery to stop sending a team to visit the SMB new member was approved. A proposal from Aizawl Bethel Presbytery to include the PCI Emblem in the church's logo was referred to the Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) General Assembly.

A proposal from Ramlai Presbytery to establish a Synod Guest house at Cancer Hospital was approved, and the Synod Executive Committee (SEC) was entrusted with the task of implementing it. However, a proposal from Aizawl East Presbytery to standardise the naming and signage of church buildings was rejected.

At the Synod Assembly held at the Mission Vengthlang Church, 865 delegates registered, and a total of 892 people attended. On Tuesday, the nomination committee presented a report on the church's activities and welcomed the delegates during the afternoon session of the assembly.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the Synod Assembly will continue during the daytime, discussing the remaining 31 general agendas and reports from the SEC/board and other committees. The spiritual theme of the assembly, "Preparing the Way of the Lord" (Isaiah 40:3-5), will be presented by Rev. C. Saikapa on Saturday evening.

On Sunday morning, a meeting will be held to ordain new pastors and appoint pro-pastors, followed by the celebration of the Lord's Supper in the afternoon. In the evening, the moderator will deliver the valedictory sermon.

FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR BUNGBANGLA

Lamtluang Online News, December 4, 2024: A tragic accident occurred today at around 12:40 pm. A Santro car, MZ-02 B 6724, driven by Lalnunmawia (Mawia), was headed to Saitual when it ended up upside down on the road below Bungbangla. The passenger, Lalrintluanga, a resident of Tuikual North, was killed on the spot.

According to the driver, the car's brakes failed, causing the vehicle to crash. The driver reported that the passenger, Lalrintluanga, was thrown out of the car and died instantly. The driver, who is a resident of Saitual, was on his way to his hometown when the accident occurred.
