WORLD AIDS DAY OBSERVED IN KHAWZAWL

Lamtluang Online News: On 1 December 2024, members of the Khawzawl District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee, led by SDO (Sadar) Suvigya S Chandra, observed World AIDS Day by visiting two homes in Khawzawl. The team visited Chhanchhuahna Home at Zuchhip and Grace Camping Center near Khawzawl JNV School, where they donated various essential items, including oil, rice, lentils, and nutritional supplements, as well as cash, to the inmates.



SHAUN LALREM RUATA CHHANGTE SECURES THIRD POSITION IN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Lamtluang Online News: India's number 3 ranked rider, Shaun Lalremruata Chhangte, has once again proved his mettle by securing a podium finish in the national championship. Despite facing setbacks, Shaun managed to secure third position in the Indian Novice Class category.

The College Veng, Aizawl native participated in the championship round held on Saturday (30 November 2024), where he showcased his exceptional riding skills. Shaun had previously secured podium finishes in the first three rounds of the championship.

The six-round championship was held in Cochin, Kerala, where Shaun participated in three categories: Indian Expert, Private Expert, and Indian Novice Class. Although he faced difficulties with his bike in the Private Expert Class, Shaun managed to secure third position in the Indian Novice Class category.

Shaun had previously secured second position in the Private Expert Class category in Round 3 held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on October 27, 2024. He also secured third position in Pune, Maharashtra, and Bengaluru, Karnataka, in Rounds 4 and 5, respectively.

With his impressive performance in the championship, Shaun is likely to secure third position in the Private Expert Class Overall Championship category at the national level.

The 23-year-old Shaun is the first rider from Mizoram to participate in such a prestigious championship. He has previously won awards in supercross championships and is expected to return to Aizawl soon.

GRACY L. BAWITLUNG APPOINTED AS OFFICER ON SPECIAL DUTY AT SUPREME COURT OF INDIA

Lamtluang Online News: Gracy L. Bawitlung, daughter of B. Vanlalsiama from Chaltlang Veng, Aizawl has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (Registrar Rank) at the Supreme Court of India. Currently serving as a  Member Secretary of the Mizoram State Legal Service Authority, Gracy will be on deputation at the Supreme Court until 31 May 2025. She will receive a salary equivalent to Pay Level 15.

Gracy joined the Mizoram Judicial Service in 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Delhi, which she completed in 2008. She further pursued her academic interests by earning a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from the University of Melbourne in 2017.

LALDINSANGA WINS WBC YOUTH BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD TITLE

Lamtluang Online News, WBC BOXING NEWS: Laldinsanga, the LPS Pro Fight champion, made a stunning comeback after being knocked down to win the WBC Youth bantamweight world title by defeating Michael Decardi Nelson in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Saturday (30 November 2024). He will return to the ring for LPS Pro Fight on Wednesday (4 December 2024).

In the Super Fight Series, the 21-year-old Dinsanga was knocked down in the first round but made a remarkable recovery to win by a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring 79-71, 77-74, and 78-73 in his favour. The Ramthar, Lunglei native became the second Mizo to win the WBC Youth world title and remains undefeated in his professional career, with five consecutive wins.

Following his world title win, Dinsanga will make his first defence of the Pro Fight bantam title on December 6 at the LPS Arena in Aizawl.

Lalrinsanga Tlau became the first Mizo to win the WBC Youth world title on March 6, 2021, when he defeated Ghanaian boxer Eric Quarm in the super featherweight division at the LPS Fight Night in Aizawl.

In other matches, Pro Fight middleweight champion C Lalhruaitluanga failed to win the WBC India title, losing to Ritesh Singh by unanimous decision. Ritesh's victory marked his fourth consecutive win, while Chawngtlai boxer Hruaia suffered his third consecutive loss.

WBC India champion Vanlalawmpuia defeated Kagimu Ivan Kigga by knockout in the third round, despite the Ugandan boxer putting up a strong fight throughout the match.

Awpa, who has the most professional boxing matches among Mizos, won his 10th match out of 14, defeating his opponent by unanimous decision.

After a year-long hiatus, WBC India champion F Zoramchhana returned to the ring and defeated Filipino fighter Noberto Tano by unanimous decision in a six-round match. Cherhlun's victory marked his seventh win in his professional career, with three losses.
