MIZORAM DOMINATES IN 39TH YOUTH NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Lamtluang Online News: Mizoram's men's basketball team has emerged victorious against Goa in the 39th Youth National Basketball Championship, held at the West Bengal Basketball Association (WBBA) Ground in Kolkata, West Bengal. The team won with a score of 45-22.

This championship, organized by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), features teams from 29 states and union territories across India. Mizoram is part of Group C, along with Goa, Puducherry, Bihar, and Delhi.

The Mizoram team consists of 12 players and three officials. They are set to face Puducherry on Saturday. The championship matches being held at the WBBA Ground and the Damurjala Indoor Stadium in Howrah.

CHIEF MINISTER LALDUHOMA ANNOUNCES VILLAGE COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Lamtluang Online News, 28 November 2024: Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced that the Village Council elections will take place in February 2025. Speaking at the ZPM Southern Hqrs Office in Lunglei, the Chief Minister stated that the current Village Council term has been extended due to COVID-19.

According to Lalduhoma, the government has the authority to extend or shorten the Village Council term as needed. He explained that the decision to hold the elections in February was made to ensure that the new Village Council is in place before the start of the new financial year in April 2025.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government is aware of the court cases related to the Village Council elections and is prepared to face them. He emphasized that the government's priority is to hold the elections before the budget session.

Lalduhoma stated that the new Village Council will start functioning from the new financial year starting in April, and that they will function under a new system. He added that the government has made this plan to ensure that the new Village Council is in place before the start of the new financial year.

The announcement has been made to provide clarity on the Village Council elections, which have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The elections are expected to be held in a peaceful and transparent manner.

MNF WANTS MANIPUR CM TO RESIGN, URGES CENTRAL GOVERNMENT TO INTERVENE

Lamtluang Online News: November 28, 2024: The Mizo National Front (MNF) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the Manipur government, led by Chief Minister Biren Singh, for failing to address the ongoing unrest in the state.

MNF Media & Publicity Department General Secretary VL. Krosehnehzova stated, "We are unhappy with the lack of progress in resolving the Manipur unrest, and the government's failure to take concrete actions to address the issue."

"In the absence of any tangible efforts to resolve the crisis, and the government's continued use of force to suppress the unrest, we urge Chief Minister Biren Singh to resign."

"We also appeal to the Central government to intervene in the matter and take immediate action to resolve the crisis, and to put an end to the suffering of the innocent people."

MNF further stated, "We appreciate the efforts of Mizoram MP (Rajya Sabha) Pu K. Vanlalvena, who has been vocal about the Manipur issue in the Indian Parliament."

"We urge the Mizoram government to continue to support the people of Manipur in their struggle for justice, and to work towards finding a lasting solution to the crisis."

"We also appeal to the people of Mizoram to continue to stand in solidarity with the people of Manipur, and to support them in their struggle for justice and equality."



FATAL AUTO RICKSHAW ACCIDENT IN LUNGSEN CLAIMS TWO LIVES

Lamtluang Online News: On 28 November 2024, a tragic auto rickshaw accident occurred in Lungsen, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. According to reports, the victims of the accident were Pi B. Hrangthangpuii, aged 77, and Pi Thankungi, aged 70.

Both women had attended an eye clinic at the Lungsen North Branch YMA Hall earlier in the day. Following their appointment, they boarded an auto rickshaw to return home. Unfortunately, the vehicle was involved in an accident near Lungsen-I VC Lungdawh around 2 pm.

Although Pi B. Hrangthangpuii and Pi Thankungi did not succumb to their injuries immediately, they sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Lungsen PHC. Whilst being transported to Lunglei for further treatment, they sadly passed away around 3:45 pm.
