LUNGLEI DC HANDS OVER DISASTER RESPONSE EQUIPMENT TO YMA BRANCHES

Lamtluang Online News: On November 19, 2024 - Lunglei District Deputy Commissioner Pu R. Lalṭhazuala handed over relief equipment to Young Mizo Association (YMA) Thorang Group's Buarpui, Thenhlum, and Sertlangpui branches.

The equipment, intended for disaster response and rescue operations, was presented at the Lunglei District Commissioner's office. Deputy Commissioner Pu R. Lalṭhazuala handed over the equipment to Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA leaders, who will distribute it to the respective branches.

The donated equipment includes:

1. Pelican Lights - 6
2. Stretchers (Orange) - 3
3. 10mm Club Ropes (50m) - 3
4. Seat Harnesses - 3
5. Head Torches - 6
6. Carabiners - 6
7. Life Jackets - 6
8. Honda Generators (Small) - 3 (Model Ep 1000, Output 850W, 4 Stroke Petrel Engine)
9. Chain Saws (Small) - 3 (Stihl MS 170, 16 Inch bar, 2 Stroke)

This initiative aims to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities in the region.

30TH YOUNG LAI ASSOCIATION GENERAL CONFERENCE BEGINS

Lamtluang Online News: The 30th Young Lai Association (YLA) General Conference commenced on 19 November 2024, coinciding with the inauguration of the Chandmary Recreational Centre (CRC). Dr. Lorrain Lalpekliana Chinzah, Adviser to the Chief Minister, attended as the chief guest.

In his address, Dr. Chinzah emphasized the importance of community development, education, and cultural preservation. He expressed concern over Lawngtlai District's poor educational performance and the high risk of HIV/AIDS in the area. Dr. Chinzah encouraged youths to strive for excellence, preserve their unique identity, and contribute to church growth and combating substance abuse.

The event also marked the launch of the 'YLA Golden Jubilee Souvenir'. Pu Ricky VL Hmingthanzuala, Secretary, YLA, Chandmary, presented the CRC report, while Pu Joseph Lalhmingthanga Chinzah, General Secretary, CYLA, delivered the welcome address.

The conference, held from November 19-21, 2024, aims to discuss key issues affecting the Lai community and promote unity and development among its members. The YLA has worked tirelessly for 50 years to promote the social, economic, and cultural well-being of the Lai community.

The association's golden jubilee celebration is a significant milestone in its history. Attendees included YLA pioneers, CYLA, Branch YLA OBs, Lawngtlai West MLA, MDC (LADC), State Officials, LADC Officials, and YLA members.

The CRC's inauguration is expected to benefit the community by providing a platform for social and cultural activities. The YLA's commitment to community development and cultural preservation is commendable, and its 50th anniversary celebration testifies to its dedication and hard work.

AIZAWL DISTRICT CONSUMER PROTECTION COUNCIL MEETING HELD

Lamtluang Online News: On November 19, 2024, Aizawl DC Er. Lalhriatpuia chaired the Aizawl District Consumer Protection Council Meeting at Aizawl DC Conference Hall. The meeting discussed LPG home delivery services within Aizawl city, focusing on implementation as per government regulations.

Attendees reviewed progress and status updates from various Gas Agencies. The meeting assessed LPG home delivery coverage across different localities in Aizawl. Notably, Zothan Indane Agency reported achieving 100% home delivery coverage in their area.

Distributors within the AMC area committed to expanding home delivery services by January 2025, with two additional localities identified for expansion. Additionally, residents in non-home delivery areas can book deliveries, which Gas Agencies must fulfill.

To monitor progress, a Monitoring Committee led by Addl DC Pi P.C Zonuntluangi was formed. The Committee will regularly inspect Gas Agencies' home delivery services.

The meeting was attended by LPG Gas Agents, IOCL representatives, MCU, CYMA, Aizawl DC, and FCS&CA Department officials.

FIRE ENGULFS RESIDENCE IN NEW CHAMPHAI

Lamtluang Online News:  A fire broke out at Pi Ningngawhluni's residence in New Champhai's Helipad Biak In area (Mizoram) around 7:30  P.M on November 19, 2024..

Fortunately, Pi Ningngawhluni and her son, the only occupants, escaped unharmed as they were outside the house when the incident occurred.

The cause of the fire remains unknown; however, nearby residents reported that the house was quickly engulfed in flames, and a gas cylinder exploded.

Regrettably, the Champhai Fire Station faced accessibility issues and didn't receive a fire call, but they took the initiative to combat the blaze.

The Assam-type house and its contents sustained estimated damages worth ₹436,500.
