MIZORAM YOUTH COMMISSION MEMBERS MEET

Lamtluang Online News, 19 November 2024: Today, the Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) members convened a meeting, chaired by Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte, Chairman of MYC.

During the meeting, Pi V. Lalmuanpuii, Secretary, presented a detailed report on MYC's recent activities. The report highlighted several key initiatives, including a one-day workshop on career guidance and counseling, ongoing social media campaigns, ASI Mock Exam, and hotel management training in Aizawl and Lunglei. Additionally, reports on future collaborations with various hotels were also discussed.
The meeting also celebrated a significant achievement, as it was announced that all 26 trainees who completed the Food & Beverage training through MYC have secured placements.
Looking ahead, the committee discussed and approved proposals for several important future activities. These initiatives include an online mentorship program, a one-on-one online mentorship program specifically designed for civil service aspirants, and a program aimed at promoting reading culture among Mizo youth. Furthermore, plans for banking and SSC coaching in the new year were also approved.
The meeting concluded with a clear direction for MYC's future endeavors.

MIZORAM MINISTER TETEA HMAR MEETS UNION MINISTER TO DISCUSS SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Lamtluang Online News: On November 18, 2024 Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar (Tetea Hmar), Mizoram's Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services and Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, met with Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, at the Union Minister's office in New Delhi to discuss various requirements of Mizoram.

Mizoram Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar expressed Mizoram's desire to participate in India's bid for the 2036 Olympic Games. To prepare for this, the Mizoram Sports Conclave was successfully held on 13-14 June 2024. He also discussed the 'Bana Kaih (Handholding) scheme', aimed at developing sports coaching in Mizoram, and sought support from the central government.

He mentioned that Mizoram is a small state with limited sports budget, and therefore requires support from the central government to achieve success in sports. He also informed the Union Minister that efforts are being made to involve Corporate and PSU sectors to enhance government initiatives.

Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya praised Mizoram Sports Minister's efforts and initiatives taken by the Mizoram government. He also appreciated that Mizoram's approach is not just about seeking funds but having a clear vision, and assured support for sports infrastructure development and other necessary areas.

During the meeting, the Union Minister mentioned plans to organise a joint meeting between Sports Ministers of various states and PSU representatives soon.

He also shared that efforts are underway to explore effective collaboration models between state sports departments and PSUs, including the "one State-one PSU" model.

Additionally, LESDE Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar met with Pi Sumita Dawra, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment, to discuss various Mizoram requirements.

Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar was accompanied by Pu John Tanpuia, Director, LESDE and Joint Secretary, S&YS Department, and Pu H. Lalramenga, PS.

The meeting showcased the state's enthusiasm for sports development and its willingness to collaborate with the central government to achieve its goals.

NATIONAL PRESS DAY 2024 OBSERVED IN MIZORAM

Lamtluang Online News: National Press Day 2024 was celebrated on November 18, 2024, at the I&PR Auditorium in Aizawl. The event was graced by I&PR Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana as the chief guest.

During the programme, Dr. Vanlalthlana launched the new Journalist Pension Scheme initiated by the Mizoram Government and handed over Journalist Pension Books to eight journalist pensioners. The Mizoram Journalist Pension Scheme 2023 was introduced by the Mizoram government through a gazette notification on October 5, 2023.

This scheme allows Indian citizens residing in Mizoram, who have worked as journalists for at least 30 years and reached the age of 60, to apply for a journalist pension. Under this scheme, pensioners will receive Rs 8,500 per month.

The National Press Day 2024 programme was moderated by Pu C. Lalnunkima, Director, I&PR. Keynote speeches were delivered by Pu C. Lalrambuatsaiha, President, MJA, on the theme "Changing Nature of Press," and Dr. David C. Vanlalfakawma, Department of Forestry, MZU, spoke on "Journalism in the face of the environmental crisis."

Dr. Vanlalthlana emphasized that despite significant technological advancements, the importance and responsibility of journalists remain unchanged. He stressed that journalists must continue to adapt and improve to keep pace with the evolving world.

MIZORAM STATE POLICY COORDINATION COMMITTEE REVIEWS BANA KAIH SCHEME APPLICATIONS

Lamtluang Online News: Mizoram State Policy Coordination Committee held a meeting on November 18, 2024, to review applications received under the Bana Kaih Scheme. Dr. KC Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to Chief Minister, chaired the meeting, which aimed to assess the financial requirements of the applicants. The scheme, designed to support entrepreneurs, will prioritize applications received during November.

The committee discussed key points, including the integration of the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department with the Bana Kaih Scheme, selection of Progress Partners for the Pilot Phase, and strategies for effective scheme implementation. They also assessed the financial requirements for the Pilot Phase.

As of the meeting, 8,370 applications were received from Implementing Departments, with Commerce & Industries Department receiving the highest number (3,346) followed by Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department (2,758).
