Aizawl stands with Hmar brethren

Lamtluang Online News, 15 November 2024 : Tonight, the Mizo Defence League hosted a candlelight vigil at Vana Pa Hall to pay tribute to the 11 Hmar volunteers who lost their lives in Jiribam district in Manipur.

The event, organised to honour the brave volunteers and show solidarity with their families and community, attracted a large crowd.

Attendees from various walks of life gathered to pay their respects, reflecting the deep sense of loss and shared grief felt by Aizawl residents towards their brethren in Manipur.

TRUCK ACCIDENT OVERTURNS A HOUSE IN CHHIAHTLANG

Lamtluang Online News: A tragic incident occurred in Chhiahtlang, Mizoram, on November 15, 2024, at approximately 6:40 am. A truck, bearing registration number RJ 14/GN-9384, overturned and crashed into Lalpandika's house in Chhiahtlang Chhimveng.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and the occupants of the house - Lalpandika, his wife, and two children - were rescued safely from the debris. At the time of the accident, the family was still sleeping.

The truck initially damaged a barrel (syntex) and an electric pole (thirban) before crashing into the house. Lalpandika's family had recently occupied the house, which belongs to Lalremliana from Chhiahtlang Vengchung.

An FIR has been filed with the police regarding the incident. However, the truck occupants fled the scene immediately, and their identities remain unknown. The registration number suggests the vehicle is from Rajasthan, and a police investigation is currently underway.




MIZORAM WEIGHTLIFTERS SHINE AT ALL INDIA SAI CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lamtluang Online News, 15 November 2024: Mizoram weightlifters delivered an impressive performance at the All India Inter Sports Authority of India (SAI) Weightlifting Championships held in Patiala, Punjab from November 12-14, 2024.

The team, comprising athletes from Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE), Mualpui, Salem Aizawl and SAI, Mission Vengthlang, Aizawl, secured a total of seven medals.

Cindy Lalparmawii from KISCE won a bronze medal in the 76kg youth and junior categories with a total lift of 119kg.

Zosangzuali from KISCE clinched a silver medal in the +81kg youth and junior categories with a total lift of 137kg.

MH Daniel Beichhuasa from KISCE secured a silver medal in the 89kg men's youth category with a total lift of 224kg.

C Lalhruaizeli from SAI won a bronze medal in the 55kg women's youth category with a total lift of 105kg.

The team's success was guided by coaches Malsawma Khiangte from Sports & Youth Services and Om Prakash from SAI.



LALREMSIAM HMAR MAKES HISTORY WITH 150th CAP FOR INDIA
