DEPUTY COMMISSIONER FELICITATES GOVT. SOUTHERN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BAND FOR WINNING STATE-LEVEL PIPE BAND COMPETITION

18 October 2024: Today, Deputy Commissioner of Hnahthial District, Pi Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau, presented awards to Govt. Southern High School Boys Band, Hnahthial, winners of the State-level pipe band competition, at their school. The award ceremony was hosted by the school's Headmaster, Pu HF Lalmuanpuia. The Girls and Boys Pipe bands performed during the event.

Deputy Commissioner Pi Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau congratulated the Govt. Southern High School Boys Band, stating they brought pride and recognition to Hnahthial District. She praised their hard work and dedication, acknowledging the collective efforts of the District Education Officer, teachers, and students.

Emphasizing the importance of extracurricular activities, Pi Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau noted that participating in pipe band competitions supplements academic learning. She encouraged students to prioritize their education and career goals, advising against distractions.

Deputy Commissioner Pi Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau presented the award to the school Headmaster and expressed optimism about the band's future success in the Eastern Zone competition and potentially at the National level.

District Education Officer Pu H. Sangthanga and former DEO Pu Micky Lalenkawla also congratulated the students. They encouraged students to utilize their talents in their future careers, including potential opportunities in the armed forces.

The Mizoram Samagra Shiksha organized the State-level School Band Competition, attracting 12 pipe bands from various districts. Govt. Southern High School Hnahthial Boys Band and Govt. Saitual High School Girls Band secured first place in their respective categories and will represent Mizoram in the Eastern Zone competition.

The School Band Competition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defence. Winners at the State and Zonal levels progress to the National level, managed by NCERT.

MIZORAM SPORTS MINISTER GRACES COACH REFRESHER COURSE








Aizawl, October 18th, 2024: Today at 1:00 pm, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services, attended the ongoing Coach Refresher Course at the Sports & Youth Services Directorate. He stated that coaches have a significant responsibility to ensure Mizo athletes participate in the 2036 Olympics.

Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar urged coaches to work diligently and contribute to the development of Mizo athletes. He emphasized the importance of coaches being role models, punctual, and dedicated. He advised coaches to prioritize their duties and arrive early for training sessions.

The Minister appealed for cooperation in the government's efforts to promote sports and youth development, highlighting the "Bana Kaih" policy's focus on enhanced sports coaching.

The Sports & Youth Services Department organized a refresher course for coaches starting October 15. The program included:

1. Seminar on Sports Medicine and First Aid (October 15-16)
2. Seminar on Sports Psychology and Method of Training (October 17-18)

Fifty-five coaches from the Department, Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE), District Khelo India Centre (KIC), and Scouts & Guides, Adventure Wing Staff attended the training.
