MIZORAM SHINES AT ASIAN ARM-WRESTLING INTERNATIONAL CUP 2024

Lamtluang Online News, 5 November 2024: Mizoram's arm wrestling team has achieved remarkable success at the Asian Arm-Wrestling International Cup 2024, held in Mumbai from October 19-26.

Denic Lalruattluanga won the gold medal in the Senior Men's 80 kg category, while Benjamin Lalawmpuia secured a silver medal in the Senior Men's 100 kg category.

Vanramnghaki also excelled, winning two silver medals and a bronze medal in the Women's 80 kg category and Para Women's category, respectively.

Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services, felicitated the team and announced a revised Sports Incentive Cash Award scheme covering both Olympic and non-Olympic sports disciplines.

Mizoram is set to host the Pro Panja Mega Match Mizoram in December, featuring top arm wrestlers from around the world competing alongside Mizo athletes.

The event will headline gold medalist Denic Lalruattluanga, who will face off against a world-class opponent.

Parvin Dabas, founder of the Pro Panja League, praised Mizoram's support for arm wrestling, noting the league's remarkable growth and reach of 32 million viewers in its first season.

India finished as the runner-up in the overall team standings, securing 63 gold medals and bagging the second position in the medal tally.

The Mizoram government's commitment to sports development has been instrumental in the state's growing prowess in arm wrestling.

MIZORAM CHIEF MINISTER PROVIDES RELIEF TO ORPHANED CHILDREN

Lamtluang Online News: On November 4, 2024, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma handed over Rs. 100,000 from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CM RF) to Pi Roslyn Kimbuang. Roslyn Kimbuang had brought 24 orphaned children from Manipur to Mizoram for safety. The Mizoram government is providing them shelter at Berawtlang Tourism Convention Centre, where the children are continuing their education in local schools.

Roslyn Kimbuang informed the Chief Minister that Zo Inspiration Foundation had previously supported her efforts. She also mentioned that she has been providing food and shelter to the children with her own resources. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for the generous assistance from the CM RF.

The CM RF grants are published in bulk by the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, and not individually.

CHURCH YOUTH'S LEADER MET FATAL ACCIDENT DURING VOLUNTARY WORK

Lamtluang Online News: Jonathan Laldingliana (35), husband of Jessica C. Malsawmzuali, who was participating in voluntary work at Aizawl's Chawlhhmun Presbyterian church (Biak In), tragically passed away.

On November 4, 2024, while unloading marble slabs during voluntary work, Jonathan was crushed by a falling marble slab around 7-8 am. He was rushed to Ebenezer Hospital, Chawnpui, but succumbed to his injuries at 10:15 am on November 4, 2024.

Jonathan served as the Finance Secretary of Chawlhhmun Branch KTP and Chawlhmun Pastorate  (Bial) Kristian Ṭhalai Pawl (KTP)

His mortal remains will be kept overnight, as per Mizo custom, before the funeral service scheduled for November 5, 2024.

MIZORAM FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION BANS 27 OVER MATCH FIXING

 
Lamtluang Online News, Aizawl, Mizoram 4 November 2024: The Mizoram Football Association (MFA) has taken a stern stance against match fixing, banning 24 players and 3 officials implicated in manipulation cases in the Mizoram Premier League-11.

The penalties, ranging from one to five years, follow a thorough investigation supported by local law enforcement agencies.

According to MFA Honorary Secretary LalrengpuiA, "The MFA will not tolerate any form of corruption or match manipulation."

The banned players include 14 from Sihphir Venghlun FC, 4 from Ramhlun Athletic FC, 4 from FC Bethlehem, and 2 from Chawnpui FC.

Three officials from Sihphir Venghlun FC, Ramhlun Athletic FC, and FC Bethlehem have also been banned.

This decisive action aims to restore trust and integrity in Mizoram football, ensuring a fair and exciting experience for fans and players.

Football enthusiasts in Mizoram have welcomed the MFA's move, calling it a necessary step to maintain the sport's integrity.

The MFA's crackdown on match fixing serves as a warning to those attempting to undermine the sport's values.
